i think this message board needs a fresh topic. whats the most special live performance that everyones been too? (and not just because of the drummer, but for any reason).
mine would have to bee on the bill evans tour in 2001 when i baught ticket #1 and was the first person at the venue (about 1 hour and a half before any one else joined me in the line) i then got the closest seat to a side on view of his set!!! this was an incredible night because all my local drum hero's were there enjoying the night which gave me a great sense of community. later that night i was introduced to vinnie himself. he and the whole band signed a poster of mine. i was on a high for about the next week!! just buzzing!! i framed the poster and it hangs in my practice room.

I think you might just have inadvertently cut your own topic short. How is anybody ment to compete with your story? (I spose we will see.)

My fondest show memories revolve around the hardcore scene of Fairax, VA. My first "real" show was at a church in Alexandria with Darkest Hour, Frodus, and Damnation AD. That show spawned my love of the independent music community. I suggest tracking down records by these bands.

Point taken.
I guess mine would be the Steve Vai "Alive in an Ultra World" Tour, in the UK. Steve was doin all of his show-man ship stuff along with Virgil and I even got a Billy Sheehan pick...which was nice.
